The Inwood Performing Arts Company provides students with the opportunity to study the different performing arts and experience their interaction to enrich and balance their education. This has been the school’s leitmotif (objective) since its establishment in 1982 under the guidance of its founders Denna and Winston Smith. We are celebrating our 25th Anniversary!
The highly qualified professional faculty of the IPAC carefully monitor and evaluate each students progress and needs helping them to become the best he or she can be. We encourage them to understand their potential, as well as give them a deep love for the incredible art of dance and music that they will carry with them whatever their profession.
The IPAC prides itself in offering all students the experience of performing on stage. The Music Department offers seasonal concerts as well as guest performances all year around while the Dance Department, in conjunction with the Inwood Dance Company, presents “The Nutcracker” each holiday season as well as a 3-day performance at the Musselman High School Auditorium each spring. Ballets in the company’s repertoire include: The Sleeping Beauty - Cinderella - Coppelia - Snow White - Swan Lake and La Fille Mal Gardee.
Advanced students can enjoy the opportunity to audition for the Inwood Dance Company which exposes them to the world of professional dancers and teachers, gives them additional performing opportunities and allows them to travel to festivals and seminars through its membership with Regional Dance America.
Throughout the years the IPAC has enjoyed the visits of famous guest artists including: Lupe Serrano, former prima ballerina of American Ballet Theater; Katina Killian, New York Ballet; Galina Mezeritseva, Kirov Ballet; Luba Gulyaeva, former soloist with the Kirov Ballet; James Kelly, Director James Kelly Choreography Project and instructor at Hubbard Street in Chicago.
