The pastors and staff of Emmanuel pray that your 2010 is filled with God's light and love. Jesus is our light and hope. May you grow in your love for Jesus as you seek his presence each day.
"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118: 24

O, Come Let Us Adore Him (together)
Max Lucado recently re-released his classic book God Came Near in which he describes the wonder of that first Christmas:
“Majesty in the midst of the mundane. Holiness in the filth of sheep manure and sweat. Divinity entering the world on the floor of a stable, through the womb of a frightened teenager and in the presence of a confused carpenter. This baby had overlooked the universe. His golden throne had been abandoned in favor of a dirty sheep pen. Worshipping angels had been replaced with kind but bewildered shepherds.
Meanwhile, the city of Bethlehem hums with activity. The merchants are unaware that God has visited their planet. The innkeeper would never believe he had just sent God into the cold. And people would scoff at anyone who told them the Messiah lay in the arms of teenager on the outskirts of their village. They were all too busy to consider the possibility. Those who missed Jesus’ arrival that night missed it not because they were evil; they missed Jesus because they simply weren’t looking. Little has changed in the last 2000 years.”
People miss Christmas not because they are bad or evil or hostile to religion; people miss Christmas because they get busy doing other things and they stop looking for God in their daily lives. We stop praying, avoid spiritual fellowship, leave our Bibles on the shelf and attend church occasionally, when we don’t have something else more important to do.
This Christmas let’s make sure that the people in our worlds get an invitation to join some our Christmas programs. Some people remain outside the walls of a church primarily because they have never received a personal invitation to come inside. This year we developed a Christmas Program brochure (available in the church office) to help you invite others to church throughout this Christmas season.
Some 2010 Emmanuel Christmas program highlights include:
