Welcome to Jefferson County Convention & Visitor's Bureau (CVB)! We invite you to 'Discover it All' in 'Wild and Wonderful West Virginia.' John Denver's song, Take Me Home Country Roads, has become the state anthem for West Virginia. But did you know that Harpers Ferry, in Jefferson County is the spot about which Denver sang? It's the only place in the state where the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah River co-exist - they do so in spectacular fashion!

Jefferson County's proximity to the Washington and Baltimore metro areas make it a neat place to visit on your way to or from the city, and make it a prime getaway spot for people living in those metro areas as well. It's no surprise that Jefferson County is, by a large margin, the most visited county in the state of West Virginia. Come for a day or a weekend, or make a whole vacation of it - there's so much to do and explore!

Pursue your passion here -- be it history, gaming and horse racing, water-related activities (like kayaking, canoeing, rafting, and tubing), hiking, biking, wonderful accommodations, shopping, or dining - or just relax and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. With four distinct seasons and moderate temperatures, any time of the year is a good time for a visit to Jefferson County.

There's always something going on here! Some of Jefferson County's annual events have acquired national prominence, like the two Mountain Heritage Arts and Crafts Festivals, the Contemporary American Theater Festival and the West Virginia Breeders Classic. In 2009 we marked the sesquicentennial of John Brown's Raid on the arsenal at Harpers Ferry, so plan to participate in some of the special events for 2010!
